The East Bay SPCA and Pet Food Express have partnered to create Virtual Pet Adoptions as part of Goal 2007's life-saving mission to find loving homes for every adoptable animal in our community. While the East Bay SPCA is a non-profit organization, and Pet Food Express operates a chain of retail stores throughout the community, both organizations are committed to creating better worlds for both people and their pets.

The East Bay SPCA
Founded in 1874, for more than 125 years the The East Bay SPCA, with facilities in Oakland and Dublin, has been a non-profit, charitable organization. Our mission is to find homes for abandoned and distressed animals, to offer affordable veterinary care and spay/neuter surgeries for the animals in our community, and to education the public in animal care and humane values. We are supported entirely by voluntary donations, and receive neither government subsidies nor support from national humane or animal welfare societies. During the past decade, the East Bay SPCA has placed more than 25,000 animals in loving, new homes since they expanded and they have spayed/neuter more than 27,000 since 1995. In 1999, more than 10,000 vaccines and 4,000 veterinary examinations were provided to adopted animals.

Pet Food Express 
Since 1985 Pet Food Express has built a solid reputation on providing quality products and services at competitive prices, combined with a goal of giving outstanding customer service. Part of that customer service includes supporting Humane societies and organizations. Pet Food Express understands and supports how valuable Humane organizations are to the quality of life in the Bay Area. The East Bay SPCA has had a long relationship with Pet Food Express, so a union was formed. Michael Levy, owner of Pet Food Express, has served on the board of the local SPCA for a number of years, and has provided product and food discounts to new adoptees and to various Humane organizations and animal rescue groups. Plus, Pet Food Express has allowed various Humane Organizations and animal rescue groups to hold on-site adoptions at many of the Pet Food Express stores. Pet Food Express was voted Pet Retailer of the Year, Best Independent Chain, Best Employee Relations, and Best Deals and Most Informed Staff over the last four consecutive years! At Pet Food Express, shopping for your pet is not a chore, but an informative and enjoyable experience. In addition to a complete line of pet products, most stores feature self-service pet washes, low-cost vaccination clinics, and pet adoption services. A Community Effort
Pet Food Express and the East Bay SPCA are not the only organizations involved in Virtual Pet Adoptions. Partnerships with local humane and animal control agencies, along with various rescue organizations throughout the Bay Area, make up the community behind Virtual Pet Adoptions. Through a community-wide commitment, every organization and agency who cares for animals in need will have an opportunity to dramatically impact the collective effort of the Virtual Pet Adoptions community. As Virtual Pet Adoptions grows, so will the shelters, rescue groups and humane societies who choose to join in helping reach Goal 2007.
